After years of frequent requests from customers, Søstrene Grene now launches its popular webshop in Finland.
15 September, Danish lifestyle brand Søstrene Grene will extend its business in Finland with the launch of its highly anticipated webshop. With more than 350 stores in 17 markets and over 5 million followers across social media channels, Søstrene Grene is indeed becoming a household name across Europe. Finland will become the 16th country in which Søstrene Grene’s webshop is launched since the company started its online shopping journey in 2020.
Søstrene Grene’s Group CEO and Co-owner Mikkel Grene is excited to open the webshop in Finland and says:
“For years, we have consistently received messages from customers asking for the option to shop at Søstrene Grene online. We are thrilled to now be able to offer people from all over Finland the opportunity to visit us whenever they want and from wherever they are with the introduction of our webshop to the Finnish market.”
Mikkel Grene is the second-generation owner of Søstrene Grene which was founded in Aarhus, Denmark in 1973 by his parents. He owns the company with his brother, Cresten Grene, who is the Creative Director.
“We have webshops in most of our other markets, and we find that the online business is a good complement to our physical stores. It helps us reach more customers, and in our experience, it also increases footfall in our stores. Therefore, we are now also launching a webshop in Finland, where we see a positive trend and opportunities to open more stores in the long term.
We have a loyal customer base in Finland, but with an online business and increased marketing, we have the opportunity to further strengthen our brand awareness among the Finnish consumers – and also to reach potential customers in areas where we do not have a physical store. I am very excited to see how our Finnish customers will welcome this new online initiative,” Mikkel Grene says.
The new Finnish webshop is a part of Søstrene Grene’s wider growth strategy with the ambition to reach 500 stores by 2027. As the retail chain continues to expand across Europe, new markets such as Italy and Poland, along with a new webshop in Spain, are being added in the coming years to further strengthen the brand’s presence and accessibility.
Delivery to the doorstep all over Finland
Very soon, Finnish customers will be able to explore Søstrene Grene’s assortment from home and get their order delivered right to the door all over Finland.
Along with the launch of the webshop, Finnish customers will also gain access to Søstrene Grene’s app which offers convenient online shopping as well as 300+ crafting projects and creative ideas for the home, holidays and parties. The app has been warmly welcomed by users in other European countries and currently has more than 700,000 downloads.
Søstrene Grene opened its first store in Finland in 2019 and today has a total of five Finnish stores divided between Ainoa, Espoo, Mall of Tripla, Helsinki, Jumbo, Vantaa, Sello, Espoo and Hamburger Börs, Turku. The stores have achieved their popularity among customers for their cosy aisles filled with Scandinavian home décor, kitchenware, furniture, craft supplies, party decorations, children’s décor and toys and along with other product categories.
Just like the physical stores, Søstrene Grene’s Finnish webshop will offer the full range of products – complemented by a selection of online-exclusive items available only via the webshop.
Modernizing the customer offering
Launching webshops in markets where the family-owned retailer already has established physical stores, has been a part of Søstrene Grene’s omnichannel strategy since the first launch of a webshop in Denmark in 2020.
At the heart of the omnichannel concept is the interplay between physical stores and online channels and the aim to provide an easy and convenient shopping experience across all channels and stores. For instance, webshop customers will be able to return online purchases in Søstrene Grene’s five physical stores in Finland.
“Whether you are visiting a physical store or browsing digitally, a visit to Søstrene Grene should evoke the same feeling of taking a break from an often-hectic everyday life. Our customers’ visits are often driven by a desire for inspiration, and we really put an effort into making sure that the same sense of inspiration is carefully reflected in the webshop, mobile app and on our social media channels,” says Mikkel Grene.
